I was employed between January 1996 and January 1997 by the
University of the West of England,
Faculty of Health & Social Care, following incorporation of the Bath
& Swindon College of Health Studies and others into a new faculty.
This post involved teaching, primarily on the Diploma in
Applied Health Studies (Nursing), I also tought on a wide range of other
courses and programmes from Initial undergraduates Pre-registration studies to
Masters Courses. Particular specialist areas include; First Aid, Nursing care
of adult acutely ill or injured patients, Information Management &
Technology/Informatics.
I was co-ordinator role for the Adult and Child branch
examination setting group. I was approved marker for the Diploma Course. I was
also been involved in recruitment and selection procedures for the
course.
I was involved in the setting up of the Research Resource Group
within the college, and was involved in the group which made suggestions to the
academic board about ways in which the college could encourage research, and
co-ordinated the research theme for the diploma course.
My clinical background is in Accident and Emergency nursing and
I linked with ENT and general surgical wards and operating theatres at the
R.U.H.
I acted as a personal tutor to 20 students on the diploma
course, 4 students on the ENB 998 Teaching & Assessing in Clinical practice
course. In addition I had a mentor role with a student undertaking a Post
Graduate Diploma in Education.
I have been involved in the recommendation of information
technology equipment within the college, and have developed an IM&T. course
as part of the programme. Since April 1996 I acted as
editor for the Faculty's web pages. When I
left in Jan 1997 this was taken over by Bob Bampbfylde.
