NHSU

NHSU - Selecting and implementing a Virtual Learning Environment
The NHSu has just published its guidance on Virtual learning Environments following work by Cumbria & Lancashire on behalf of the Strategic Health Authorities.

It includes an interactive demo & PDF guide - but i couldn't get the Word Document of "Statement of requirements(SOR) for a learning Management System (LMS) to download.

  • I tried the site, and guess what - the buttons only work for Internet Explorer!?! They do not work with Mozilla, Firefox or Opera. methinks someone needs a lesson in cross-browser interoperability.

  • Thanks for this Peter,
Below is a copy of a message I've sent to 'enquiries@nhsu.org.uk'
I wonder if it will get any response?

    Hi,

I was very interested in your report "Selecting and implementing a Virtual Learning Environment" and will be reading this in some depth.

In the meantime it has been pointed out to me that in the intercative demo at http://www.nhsu.nhs.uk/webportal/vle/index.jsp the buttons only work for Internet Explorer!?! They do not work with Mozilla, Firefox or Opera

The html validator at: http://validator.w3.org/ suggests that the page does not validate in html 4.01 as it uses non-standard attributes.

The Boby tool http://bobby.watchfire.com/bobby/html/en/index.jsp suggests improvements which could be made before the page reaches any of their 3 approval levels.

I would hope that the NHSU would be meeting the highest standards itself as many trusts, SHA's etc could well see it as the model which should followed.
